| The Gobbs would like to give a heart felt thanks to the following
great musicians who have played in the band from time to time: |
| |
Singers:
Johnny 'The Boss' Rowlatt: crazy enough to front
the Gobbs the first time they played. Moved to another part of the country soon
afterwards.
Steve 'Mr Cabaret' Freeland: great personality,
couldn't take the pressure of his female fans.
'Big' Ade Carroll: a legend. Wild Irishman who
could sing like he came from the deepest part of the delta. Known to enjoy a drink
or two (or eleven......!)
Tony 'Mr Delectable' Wilson: superb frontman,
great singer, quite often remembered the lyrics.
Mark 'Swinny' Swinburne: brief and sensational
stay as Gobbs frontman, still talked about by Gobbfans.
Michelle Le Roy: an original Sister of Sleaze
with an angelic voice and a little black dress.
Kim Hannah: another Sister of Sleaze, another
angelic voice, another little black dress
Louise Davies: the third Sister of Sleaze, another
angelic voice, and another little black dress.
Sally 'Soul Sister' Lister: band mother, soul
momma and a great singer
Ondi 'Chanteuse's Wilson: no one ever belted
out a song like Ondi.
Heather 'kiddo' Hird: sweet voiced backing singer
and first victim of the infamous Gobb pregnancy curse.
Dawn Hoskins: together with Heather made a great
sound.
Tracey 'the Case' Childs: fantastic singer,
single handedly pulled the band to a new level of excellence.
Maggie 'Stormy' Howe: soooooo that's what the
blues sounds like!
Amber 'Baby Boo' Roake: from shower singer to
professional via the Gobbs, probably the best Soul singer the band ever had.
Guitar:
Dougie McQuillan: first guitarist the Gobbs
ever had.
Phil 'Pickin' Merrin: from jazz to rock he could
do it all, and he whipped (literally) the Rhythm Section into shape.
Charlie Shufflebottom: he came, he saw, he blew
everybody off the stage and out of the hall.
Paul 'The Legend' Bryden: the consummate professional.
Bass Guitar:
Luke 'Basin-full' Wood: first ever bass player.
Had an impressive hat.
Elliot 'Yorkshire' Dales: coolest bass player
ever. Sadly missed.
'Little' Ben Wood: the man! Never a wrong note,
and he made the band swing.
John 'Mad Bob' Gallacher: helluva guy, helluva
player, owned more equipment than all the others put together!
Keyboards:
Myron 'Fingers' Hyrnkow: long serving original
keyboard player. Energetic and creative, sadly missed.
Neil 'Sleepy' Loughran: coolest hands ever.
Selfishly went to college just when he'd made the Gobbs sound better than ever.
Trumpet:
'Randy' Andy Thompson: sensational trumpet player.
Rich 'The Captain' Butler: trumpet master.
Martin 'Top C' Grisdale: jazz trumpeter turned
blues monster.
Jerry 'Mr Showbiz' Horrocks: trumpet veteran
turned riff master.
Trombone:
Mat 'The Hat' Lister: coooool slide trombone.
Saxophone:
Des 'Doctor Jazz' Brady: hardworking, sweet
toned alto player. Gobbs owe him a lot. Arranger, band leader and expert player.
Jenny 'Three Pies' Burton: foxy tenor player.
Sound System:
'Deadly' Derek Ellsworth: have headphones will
mix!
Anthony 'Funky' Hext: PA maestro who taught
the band more about mixing their sound than anyone else.
Paul 'Reverb' Riley: expert sound man.
